How do I import my CSV file into Groop?

Importing by CSV allows you to easily upload user details

This article outlines the requirements for importing a CSV of people on to Groop. You will also find some hand hints on how to format the data correctly and quickly. 

1. The file must be CSV format, other file extensions eg. XLS are not supported.

2. All  of the fields available are not required but we recommend you import as much information as possible as you cannot merge data using the CSV import function at a later date
3. The first row of the spreadsheet must contain the column headings
   

   First Name	Last Name	Email	Telephone

   The title of each column is not important but if the header cell is empty, the entire column will be ignored

4. Roles assigned to a user must already exist and must be an exact match i.e. case specific
5. Labels assigned to a user must already exist and must be an exact match I.e. case specific
6. Date of birth and any other date field must be in ISO 8601 format:
   
   2020-01-22
   22 Jan 2020
   Jan 22, 2020
   22 Jan 20
   Jan 22 20
   2020/01/24
   06/01/2020
   06/01/20
   
   MM/DD/YYYY is not compatible (US date format)
   
   For dates that contain times, append any of the above examples with the time in hh:mm, or hh:mm:ss. To specify a timezone as well, use:
   
   2020-01-22T15:20:00+0200’
   2020-01-22T15:20:00Z’ for UTC

7. Any select or multi-select such as Gender, Ethnicity or a Custom Field created for your Groop, must already exist and must be an exact match i.e. case specific.
   

   When importing information into one of the default fields, the CSV import must match our system. The options needed to be entered in to the CSV can be found in the below tables and also how that will be displayed within Groop:

   1. Title

   2. Sexuality

   3. Faith/Belief

   4. Method of Travel

   5. Disability

   6. Gender

   7. Ethnicity

8. Columns not required when importing can be 'Unassigned'. This data will not be imported
